I am working on landscape art work related to a walk into the forest. The woodland/forest is one of my favourite places as I find that it refreshes me. The seaside and other waterways are also some of my favourites and I will be creating artworks based on them also.
I have started with the forest. For my HNC i created an Artists' Book based on a woodland walk I went on with my family. I am working on the same imagery but making images on a much larger scale as I am using an A2 sketchbook. I am going to experiment and try different mediums to create the woodland and see where this takes me!!
This image below is my Woodland Artists' Book. I created this by painting onto an old English grammar book (repurposing it). I used watercolour to paint a forest/woodland scene then I put coloured tissue over the top. Once dry I went back into the images with watercolour and then added fineliner to certain parts to pull out a bit of definition.
I really like this book as it reminds me of childhood stories I used to read and it brings back fond memories.
So I have began my experimentation with a collage. I gathered coloured tissue, marbled paper and printed scraps. I used these to build up my forest collage.
Gathering what I need. I collaged all of these materials to the page and created the image below. I think it looks pretty good.
